Two men escaped with only minor injuries after their light aircraft crashed into a warehouse in Alberton, Johannesburg. It is understood that the men were flying the plane from Bloemfontein when the incident occurred. Local authorities attended the scene at Union Park, and the official investigation is now underway.

Johannesburg warehouse hosts emergency landing
The pair had to be rescued from their perilous position by a forklift truck, and an elaborate operation – that lowered the passengers to safety – took place, using a cage and some meticulous machinery skills. The plane was found nose-first into the roof of the building, hanging by its wings to the shattered ceiling.
Plane smashes into Alberton factory
ER24 were the first responders at the scene in Johannesburg. They confirmed that the injuries sustained by the plane’s occupants ‘were not serious’, but they were sent to hospital as a precaution. When your aircraft has plunged into a roof, the very least you should do is get a check-up – and let’s hope this factory has a sympathetic insurer…
“A pilot and his co-pilot escaped serious injuries when their light aircraft crashed through the roof of a building in Union Park, Alberton on Sunday afternoon. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident is not yet known.”
“Shortly after 14:00, paramedics from ER24, Gauteng Provincial EMS as well as other rescuers attended the scene. Upon their arrival, they found the light aircraft hanging nose down through the roof of a building.”
“Both occupants were still inside of the aircraft. Fire and rescue services used a forklift and a cage to bring the two men to the ground. Both managed to climb out of the aircraft through a window. The two were assessed on scene and found to have sustained no serious injuries. They were later transported to a nearby hospital by the emergency response teams.”
