  • A previous version of this article claimed the vehicle involved in the carnage was a Ferrari, due to the information given to us at the time. It’s actually a Lamborghini. Sorry about that, we all make mistakes, and well… at least we didn’t wrap a million-rand car around a tree. Now THAT would be embarrassing…

There is a huge insurance claim coming, let’s put it that way: The driver of this Lamborghini is believed to have lost control on a busy Cape Town road earlier on Tuesday, slamming it into a tree and totalling the vehicle in the process.

Despite the huge damage to the car, the person behind the wheel is reportedly fine. Local Hout Bay neighbourhood groups have reported that there were no injuries in this mid-morning write-off, with only a touch of ‘bruised pride’ to report.

Lamborghini fail: No injuries reported in horror smash

The incident took place on Victoria Road – the main route which connects Cape Town with the scenic coastal town of Hout Bay. The alleged speedster lost control on a bend near Llandudno, and saw the front end of the Lamborghini crumble like a crisp packet. Vehicle recovery services arrived on the scene shortly afterwards, and towed the mangled motor away.

Graham Sleigh, a Hout Bay resident and eyewitness at the scene, claimed that the Lamborghini was a rental car. Eish…

Cape Town traffic ‘undisturbed’ by sports car crash

The cause of the crash is yet to be established, and local response teams are yet to confirm if ‘speeding’ played a part in this eye-watering smash. It’s miraculous that no injuries were reported here – and the driver may want to consider taking a hatchback out for his next coastline cruise. All’s well that ends well, we guess…

The crumpled steel and battered bodywork highlights just how forceful this crash was. Thankfully, the driver walked away from the incident completely unscathed. Physically, if not financially… Photo: JVI News / Facebook
