Jacob Zuma’s latest Twitter post makes a splash

Msholozi put snaps of his afternoon swim onto his social media channel. He can be seen floating in a private pool, alongside a woman believed to be one of his wives. He even went for a cheeky caption too, signing the picture off with the message: “float like a butterfly, sting like a bee”.

But don’t let the Muhammed Ali quote fool you, Zuma is a lover – not a fighter. With just six weeks left until South Africa goes to the polls, it would seem JZ is happy to be off the campaign trail for the first time in decades.

Is that your firepool, Msholozi?

As you’d expect, his Twitter followers came with questions: Many wanted to know if this was the infamous “firepool” that was installed at his Nkandla residence in 2015. The pool caused a huge controversy, as it was initially marked as a water source that could serve as a reservoir to help fire-fighting efforts.

The R3.9 million facility came straight from the state, leaving tax payers cynical about why a firefighting tool would just so happen to double up as a luxury item in the ex-president’s backyard. It’s been four years and the whole situation simply refuses to make sense. However, Zuma is not at Nkandla in these photos.
