From chocolate chip to gingerbread men and even snickerdoodles – 1 December is National Cookie Cutter Day, the perfect day to get baking and creative with those cutters!
Cookie cutters became popular in the 16th century, when the gingerbread man made its way into the English court and then to common people, and have evolved into various shapes and sizes.
Every year, National Cookie Cutter Day is observed to remind people of the importance of this in their lives.
In the 1500’s, the Germans baked small cakes into molds and intricate designs even before Queen Elizabeth I turned gingerbread into men.
During this time, cutters were made from tin by American tinsmiths.
The first festivities of National Cookie Cutter Day were held during National Cookie Cutter Week, which was organized by Paula Mullins in the middle of the 1990s.
National Cookie Cutter Day was established in 2019, and is usually observed on the first day of Cookie Cutter Week.
This National Cookie Cutter Day, which is observed at the start of December, is the ideal time for individuals who are preparing to bake cookies for Christmas, Hanukkah, or other winter festivals.
