Play stupid games, win stupid prizes: That’s what happened to this would-be hijacker in the Cape Town suburb of Phillipi, when he targeted the wrong vehicle earlier this week and ended up getting dragged down a busy street.
The clip, uploaded to social media on Wednesday, is a 30-second lesson to all those who think crime pays: The video starts just as the car pulls away, with the potential hijacker hanging from the driver’s-side door.
A frantic struggle ensues, with the robber losing his footing at a crucial moment. The car continues forwards, and picks up speed. That’s when this crook really ended up in a pickle…
It’s understood that the perpetrator was attempting to grab something belonging to the Uber driver. When he put his arm through the window, the motorist managed to close it, keeping the criminal party trapped against the vehicle.
No mercy was shown by the taxi operator, as he purposefully carried on his journey. The community watched on in sheer disbelief, with some claiming that this was an act of ‘instant karma’ for the unfortunate opportunist.

Things soon went from bad to worse for our not-so-smooth criminal: After he was finally dumped by the Uber driver, the good people of Phillipi didn’t take too kindly to his actions – and they wanted to let him know about it.
Several local residents dished out there own brand of justice, punching and kicking the hijacker. Although he seemed fine by the end of the video, he certainly gets a serious roughing-up. We can only hope that he had some sense knocked into him, here:
