If there is one thing people can expect from Elon Musk, it is just about anything at this point. The Tesla founder is now topping the Twitter trends list after randomly claiming on the social media network that he intends to purchase Manchester United, one of the most expensive football clubs in the world.

WILL ELON MUSK FOLLOW THROUGH WITH MANCHESTER UNITED PURCHASE?

Being one of the wealthiest person in the world, money would definitely not be an object for Elon Musk. For now, not much is known about Musk’s plans to purchase Manchester United as the 53-year-old mogul didn’t go into much detail and made the announcement on Twitter.

Anyone who follows Musk on Twitter know he has a history of being unconventional and making irreverent tweets, which is why some may doubt he will follow through with this bid.

The football team is owned by the American Glazer family and had previously expressed their willingness to sell it, but only if they were offered a whopping $4 billion. According to Caught Off Guard, a New York investment fund is considering putting together an offer to take over the club.

Musk is currently caught in a lawsuit with Twitter after suspending his bid to purchase the tech company. A judge recently ordered that a trial begin in October. He subsequently filed a countersuit, accusing Twitter of fraud and alleging the social media platform misled him about key aspects of its business before he agreed to a $44 billion buyout.

He recently sold $7 billion worth of Tesla shares.
