Mbalula told to ‘cut down’ on nightclub visits – by a fellow minister!

Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula is being tipped for a role in the ANC Top Six – but he’s been told to leave the nightclubs alone.

Fikile Mbalula is one of the more colourful characters in Cabinet. However, not everyone is impressed by his social media presence and taste for nightclubs. The experienced politician has received a telling-off on Tuesday, from a senior colleague.

New career move for Fikile Mbalula?

Mondli Gungubele is the Minister in the Presidency. This makes him one of Cyril Ramaphosa’s right-hand men. He spoke to Radio702 this morning, looking ahead to the upcoming ANC Elective Conference. Alas, Mr. Mbalula’s private life was one of the discussion points.

That’s because Mbaks is allegedly angling for the Secretary-General post within the party. Should he be appointed, Fikile Mbalula would join the coveted ‘Top Six’ of the ANC for the first time. Given his myriad of ministerial positions in the past, this is perhaps his next logical step.

No ANC Top Six unless you curb your nightclub visits, Fikile Mbalula told

However, Gungubele has issued an ultimatum to the current Transport Minister. Should Mbalula wish to fill the boots of Ace Magashule, he has been told to ‘cut down’ on his appearances at nightclubs. Apparently, it’s a demand the 51-year-old is willing to meet.

“I said to Fikile Mbalula, that if you are elected as ANC Secretary-General at the upcoming Elective Conference, the rate we see you attend nightclubs has to go down. He has been told this. He says he is willing to do so.” | Mondli Gungubele

Electives, nightclubs, Phala Phala – Gungubele put through his paces

Meanwhile, Gungubele was also pressed about the latest Phala Phala matters. President Ramaphosa is facing a probe into the stacks of cash found at his Limpopo property earlier this year. His comrade in Cabinet, however, has backed him to the hilt.

“How can anyone say Cyril Ramaphosa is the problem, and that he must step down? Polls show he is more popular than the ANC itself. Who is the real problem? If any findings show that he brought the ANC into disrepute, he will make an appropriate decision” | Mondli Gungubele
