A week is incomplete without a sermon led by yours truly, the leader of the Megacy.

AKA has had a tough week in the media, so far. The rapper extraordinaire is still celebrating the success of his recent release but some fans have noticed a supposed dip in his lyrical finesse.

AKA lyrical abilities questioned

AKA is currently rolling out his upcoming project. The road to his next album started on Friday, 18 October, when he released FREE, a Kwaito-influenced summertime smash featuring DJ Tira and Riky Rick, couple by a music video and single premiere of Main Ou’s, a song featuring Cape Town native, YoungstaCPT.

Only days after both released topped radio and iTunes charts, AKA dropped another snippet on social media, to drive anticipation for what’s to come.

While for some, this was the best periods of content from the rapper, others had a few things to get off their chest regarding his lyrical finesse.

One user appreciated his ability to sample music but noted, with concern, how his lyrical content was “very questionable these days”.

Super Mega goes on a rant

AKA clapped back to the tweet, telling those who expect top-notch lyricism from him, to rather go listen to artists like Proverb.

This criticism clearly bothered Super Mega. The rapper went on a rant, explaining the meaning behind some of his quotables.

Proving he’s a maverick in redirecting discourse online, AKA turned a slight criticism into a trend, and now his fans had an opportunity to front questions to the rapper about the meaning behind some of his lyrics from past hit records.
