South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) grant beneficiaries who are collecting grants (besides the R350 SRD) can get ready to collect theirs from the South African Post Office.

What are the October grant payment dates?

Those collecting older persons, disability and children’s grants should be paid from the third day of next month.

The grants will start being paid from next Monday, 3 October. The older person’s grant will be paid first followed by the others.

SASSA grant payment dates for October:

Older persons – Monday, 3 October

Disability grants – Tuesday, 4 October

Children’s grants – Wednesday, 5 October

REMINDER: The South African Post Office no longer pays out the R350 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant. The beneficiaries have been encouraged to collect from approved retail outlets or have the grant deposited directly into their bank accounts.

R350: AVOID repeatedly changing bank details says South African Social Security Agency

Previously, it was reported that the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has urged beneficiaries of the R350 social relief of distress (SRD) grant to not repeatedly change their bank details. SASSA says the constant changes in bank details may delay payments.

Over the past week, many applicants used social media to express how they felt about having their grant applications denied or experiencing delayed payments. SASSA stated, among other reasons, that constantly changing bank details on the SRD website is a cause for the payment delays.

The agency explained that every time bank details are changed, the beneficiary will have to be verified – causing the delay. The agency further recommended that those who receive the grant open their own bank accounts with an institution of their choice as it will assist them in taking ‘ownership of their funds and collection’.
