23 children in hospital after Ntuzuma taxi crash

A taxi crash has sent 23 children to hospital. The collision with an SUV happened during a trip to school in Ntuzuma, KwaZulu Natal.

No less than 23 children are in hospital following a taxi accident in Mafukuzela Road in Ntuzuma, KwaZulu Natal on Thursday morning. The crash occurred while the group was traveling to school.

NTUZUMA TAXI CRASH: 23 CHILDREN HOSPITALISED

The tragedy struck before 08:00 as the children were traveling to school before a taxi collided with an SUV, local paramedics confirmed.

The kids are understood to be seriously injured but no fatalities have been confirmed yet.

“Medics assessed the scene a found approximately 23 children who had sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious,” Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst said.

“All the patients were treated on scene and once stabilised were transported by ambulance to the hospital for further care.”

THIRD HORROR ACCIDENT IN KWAZULU NATAL

The 23 injured children in Ntuzuma sadly follow after two other freak crashes in the province within a fortnight. A collective of 58 passengers in a fully-loaded bus were injured in Umkomaas on Monday evening. The report said the driver simply ‘lost control’ before the bus overturned.

“Medics assessed the scene and found that fifty-eight occupants had been injured. Netcare’s Shawn Herbst said. “Ten people sustained critical injuries, twenty-six seriously injured, and twenty-two people had sustained minor to moderate injuries.”

In another gruesome event last week, at least ten people were killed and 50 injured in a horror N3 bus accident on Tuesday, 12 October 2021.

“It is alleged that there was a blowout on the right front tyre. The driver of the bus lost control, causing the vehicle to veer over the centre medium and as well as over as Southbound carriage lane,” police spokesperson Thembeka Mbele said.

“There are 10 fatalities. The injured have been transported to local hospitals. Culpable Homicide case has been opened at the Colenso SAPS for further investigation.”
