Matric learner brutally raped and murdered on her way home
A matric learner from Soshanguve in Tshwane, Gauteng left school after attending extra classes but did not make it home.

Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane is expected to visit the school and family of Palesa Malatji, a 17-year-old matric learner from Ntsako Secondary School in Soshanguve, Tshwane, who was brutally raped and murdered on Monday, 29 May 2023.
The brutal incident reportedly happened on on Thursday , 25 May 2023.
MATRIC LEARNER RAPED AND KILLED
Gauteng Education spokesperson Steve Mabona said according to information at their disposal, the learner left school in the afternoon after attending extra classes and walked back home.
Unfortunately, she did not return home and her family began searching for her at the school, but to no avail. Her body was found sexually violated on Friday, 26 May 2023 next to Echibini Secondary School in Soshanguve.
Education MEC Matome Chiloane said they are deeply devastated by the occurrence of this gruesome incident upon one of our learners.
“We wish to extend our most sincerest condolences to the family and school community. We will be dispatching our Psycho-Social Support to the school and family. We call upon police to urgently arrest the perpetrators of this unspeakable crime,” he said.
