New couple alert? South Africans seem to think that actress Nomzamo Mbatha and Zulu King, Misuzulu Sinqobile KaZwelithini would make a good couple. This, after Mbatha took to Instagram to congratulate the new king for ascending to the throne on Saturday, while sharing pictures of them together on the set of Shaka Ilembe

The series is about the infamous Zulu king, Sgidi kaSenzangakhona, known as King Shaka. King Misuzulu visited the cast and crew to give his blessings recently. You can read more about Shaka Ilembe here.

Various Mzansi public figures flooded Nomzamo’s comment section on the Instagram post saying she and the king look cute together and she would make a good queen.

Business women, Basetsana Kumalo commented ‘Queen” while Nunu Ntshingila asked “Baziletha nini izinkomo?” loosely translated to when are they coming to pay lobola?

@msizi_zungu commented “You guys look good together”

@tzungu24 commented “Can we just call you Ndlunkulu (Queen) already? Because wow..”

@lissa_lisahleli commented “It’s giving Ndlunkulu vibes”

@kim_collen said “I will just speak for everyone in the comments because they are scared to say this. You literally could be the hottest royal couple ever. Ninesdima.”

On Saturday, 20 August, officials, chiefs and kings from  kingdoms in Africa together with people from all walks of life gathered at KwaKhangelamankengane Royal Palace in Nongoma, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) to witness King Misuzulu KaZwelithini ascending to the throne.

As previously reported, King Misuzulu performed pre-coronation rituals including the sacred Ukungena Esibayeni ritual.

Ukungena Esibayeni has been described as one of the most sacred royal customs in Zulu tradition.

In every Zulu homestead, there is a kraal which is regarded as a sacred place where the family communicates with its ancestors. The same applies to every royal palace, even though many other sacred things are done there.

In simple terms, it means that King Misuzulu entered a sacred kraal at KwaKhangelamankengane Royal Palace where he was introduced to the royal ancestors and the nation’s ancestors as the next AmaZulu King, following the passing of his father and mother Queen Regent, Mantfombi Dlamini-Zulu.
