Nineteen learners injured in a HORRIFIC head-on collision

Nineteen pupils from Limpopo have been injured in a HORRIFIC head-on collision between a car and the minibus they were travelling in.

Nineteen pupils from Thengwe Secondary School in Vhembe were injured on Monday in a horrific head-on collision between a car and the minibus they were travelling in.

NINETEEN INJURED LEARNERS WERE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL

According to the Limpopo Department of Education spokesperson Tidimalo Chuene, the accident happened at Mutale – Makhithani.

“The accident happened at Mutale – Makhithani, allegedly as a result of unsafe overtaking which caused ahead on collision. Reports from the scene indicate that four learners sustained serious injuries and 15 sustained minor injuries. They were all taken to Donald Fraser hospital for medical attention.”

Limpopo MEC for Education, Polly Boshielo wished the learners a speedy recovery and cautioned motorists to be extra vigilant.

MEC FOR EDUCATION WISHED THE LEARNERS A SPEEDY RECOVERY

“We would like to wish all the learners who sustained injuries a speedy recovery. We caution motorists to obey the rules of the roads as failure to do so often results in unfortunate incidents like this, where our learners are get injured and miss school time. One day lost in school is one day too many. We truly wish them a full speedy recovery so that they return to school as soon as possible.”

EARLIER THIS MONTH FIFTEEN LEARNERS WERE INJURED

Earlier this month, twelve learners from the Maseala Progressive School in the Capricorn South Education district were involved in a car accident.

“At the time of the accident, which occurred at the Legae La Batho robots along the Nelson Mandela highway outside Polokwane, the learners were traveling from their respective homes to school in a minibus.

“It is alleged that their vehicle was hit by another private vehicle and overturned, resulting in one learner sustaining serious injuries and 11 learners sustaining minor injuries.”

Chuene said all 12 learners were transported to four medical facilities where they received medical attention.
