New study shows Jozi’s drivers are some of the most miserable in the world

Ag shame, as if folks in Jozi didn’t have enough other things to be miserable about.

You probably didn’t need a study to tell you this, but apparently South African drivers are some of the most miserable in the world.

A new “Traffic Satisfaction Index run by global traffic network, Waze,” looked at 186 metros in 38 different countries. These were then ranked according to traffic density and severity, road quality and infrastructure, road safety, and access to road services.

South Africa was ranked 26th out of 38 countries with just one metro assessed. And this is where things get really grim. Jobrug was ranked 172nd out of 186. Ouch.

Netherlands was the most satisfying place to drive. Perhaps something to do with all those bicycles.  El Salvador, the Philippines, Guatemala, Panama, and Indonesia were the least satisfying places.

It’s a good thing Cape Town wasn’t assessed, though, because the city definitely has the worst traffic in South Africa with a study from earlier in the year showing Cape Town drivers spent 30% more time in traffic compared to Joburg drivers.
