Just last month the City of Johannesburg had just eight functioning fire engines to service 28 stations throughout Jozi, but GoodThingsGuy reports that this shortage has been significantly reduced thanks to the new DA government’s efforts.

Mark Klein posted the following to his Facebook page:

The DA’s Shadow MMC for public safety, Michael Sun, identified the need for urgent action back in September and less than a month later 29 fire engines have left the workshops they were rusting away in for years.

Sun released the following statement:

“Dear Mayor and Councillors
Please see my fifth report on Getting the Fire Engines Back.
This is the full report for the month of September or one month after we have taken office.
I am very proud to tell you that what the ANC government couldn’t do for years we did in one month.
We got back 29 fire rescue vehicles back in action and service.
Regards
Michael Sun
MMC for Public Safety.”
