Cape Traffic Services spokesperson Kevin Jacobs said the two left lanes on the N2 inbound at Jan Smuts are closed. A motorist told The South African he could “feel the flames” from the other side of the road.

“The Jan Smuts Drive offramp has also been closed to traffic,” added Jacobs. The cause of the MyCiti bus fire has yet to be declared.

At approximately 8:47, the inbound traffic lanes on the N2 were reopened to traffic. The Jan Smuts Drive offramp remains closed.

The South African reached out to the South African Police Service (SAPS) for comment, which will be added once it is received.

This is a developing story.
