MyCiti bus accident that left three people injured is under investigation
A man and woman were trapped in the car underneath the MyCiti bus. Once freed, they were found to have minor to moderate injuries.

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate is investigating the crash between a MyCiti bus and a vehicle that took place along Nelson Mandela Boulevard at around 18:15 on Thursday evening.
MYCITI BUS ACCIDENT UNDER INVESTIGATION
The accident, which involved a MyCiTi N2 Express bus, occurred on NMB outbound just before Browning Road. Rob Quintas, the City’s MayCo Member for Urban Mobility, said no fatalities were reported.
“As far as we know, three people sustained minor injuries, but we will know more by tomorrow. It is unclear what has caused the accident, this will form part of the investigation,” said Quintas.
At 19:38 on Thursday, City Traffic spokesperson, Maxine Bezuidenhout, said two confirmed injuries were taken to a hospital. The road remained closed to all outbound traffic from the time of the accident until midnight.
The vehicle operating company whose driver was involved in the crash is obliged to investigate the incident, submit a report to the City and report the matter to the South African Police Service.
In a statement on Friday morning, 1 July, Netcare911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst shed more light on the rescue efforts that followed the MyCiti bus accident.
“When medics arrived on scene they found two occupants, an adult male and adult female of the car trapped underneath the bus,” said Herbst.
The Western Cape Metro Rescue used hydraulic equipment to lift the bus off the car and paramedics stabilised the injured patients.
Once they were freed, it was found that the patients had sustained minor to moderate injuries. They were transported to a hospital for further care.
