Elderly man BRUTALLY beaten to death in Free State

Four suspects were arrested for the murder of an elderly man who was brutally beaten to death in his house in Brandfort.

An elderly man was brutally beaten to death and found in a pool of blood in his house in Brandfort.

FOUR SUSPECTS LINKED TO THE MURDER

On 19 January 2023, around 9:00, the domestic worker informed the South African Police Services (SAPS) after they discovered the body. The victim was found in a pool of blood. The 74-year-old man suffered a wound on his head from a blunt object.

Shortly after the Emergency Medical Services arrived, the man was certified dead.

SUSPECTS WERE IN POSSESSION OF THE VICTIMS’ BELONGINGS

They registered a case of Murder, and the SAPS received further information that was put into operation.

The three suspects and the traditional healer were found in a house that was identified in Majwemasweu. After a search of the house, the cellphone of the victim was found along with a .22 unlicensed firearm. The traditional healer owned the firearm.

FOLLOWING THE ARREST

The three suspects are aged 21, 23 ,and 31, along with the traditional healer (38).

They will appear in the Brandfort Magistrate Court on 23 January 2023. As a result, they face charges of an unlicensed firearm and murder.

The Free State Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General BB Motswenyane praised the SAPS members for the swift arrest of the four suspects after the murder.
