Muizenberg Captain stabbed to death in Khayelitsha: Police reeling

A 37-year-old police Captain was stabbed to death in Khayelitsha on Saturday. The Hawks are handling the murder investigation.

A police Captain attached to Muizenberg station was murdered in Khayelitsha, Cape Town on Saturday evening, 21 January. The circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation.

MUIZENBERG CAPTAIN STABBED TO DEATH

The Hawks are handling the murder probe, said Brigadier Novela Potelwa. No arrests have been made as yet.

The Western Cape South African Police Service (SAPS) management has expressed its condolences to the bereaved family of the deceased.

The identification and further details about the Muizenberg Captain will be revealed after consultation with the 37-year-old’s family.

Potelwa said the Muizenberg police are reeling from the shock of their colleague’s murder.

Recently, a 33-year-old Constable from the Ligelethu West police station was found dead on Christmas Day. He was shot and stabbed and his service firearm was missing when his body was found. Before that, a 26-year-old Constable was shot and killed in Grassy Park on Thursday, 1 December.

Arrests have been made in both police killings, four suspects were arrested on the same day and the firearm was recovered in the Lwandile murder and a 42-year-old man was nabbed in connection with the Grassy Park killing.
