CELE PROVIDES UPDATE ON MOTI BROTHERS

Cele provided a brief update on the Moti brothers kidnapping case at a Justice, Crime Prevention and Security Cluster (JCPS) briefing on Monday.

He said a multi-approach team has been put together to track down the brothers and return them to their family safely. “I know that the police are working with the Department of Social Development, Health and many other community structures.”

Cele added that the police headquarters has poured a lot of technology into the operation. “We are making progress. It’s a difficult case, no doubt about it, but we are making progress.”

“Up to this point, with the latest reports, we are hopeful that the police will crack this case. It’s definitely the 24/7 kind of operation for the South African Police and all structures that are involved,” said the police minister

The brothers – Zia, 15, Alaan, 13, Zayyad, 11 and Zidan, six – were taken from the vehicle they were driving in while en-route to school on Wednesday, 20 October.

Nazim Moti, their father, is the owner of a prominent Polokwane vehicle dealership, Auto Moti. On Sunday, the business posted a message on its Facebook page that said, “We beg you please bring our kids home.”

At this stage, the family has not received a ransom demand.
