How does the cliche go? You can run but you can’t hide. This is what police felt during the arrest of a suspect who spent 13 years on the most-wanted list.

GOTCHA! POLICE ARREST SUSPECT AFTER 13 YEARS ON MOST-WANTED LIST

So how did it all really happen? According to the report, the 34-year-old suspect, who is facing numerous counts of sexual assault, was chased for two weeks.

He was handcuffed on Thursday Mangaung, thanks to DNA technology.

“The 34-year-old suspect was arrested after two weeks of tracking and tracing by the dedicated team of police officials today Thursday 13 January 2022,” SAPS Sgt Peter Kareli said.

“He has been on the wanted list for the past 13 years and was arrested after he was linked through DNA.”

13 COUNTS OF RAPE IN BLOEMSPRUIT AREA

Police said the arrested suspect from their 13 years in the most-wanted list, even had his very own unique technique to prey on his victims.

Carrying a knife, he attacked them from behind after grabbing their necks. So how old were his targets? His victims are said to be all between the ages of 23 and 24, while there is also one victim who is 43 years of age.

“It is alleged that the suspect surprised his victims by sneaking from behind and grab them by the neck, threatening to stab them,” Kareli added.

“He will then drag the victim to either an open space or an empty house where he will rape them and run away when done.

“All the rape cases happened in the Bloemspruit area and the victims are aged between 23 and 24 with one victim aged 43-year-old. The rapes happened between 2009 and 2013,” the report added.

Meanwhile, the suspect, following the staggering 13 years spent on the most-wanted list, will appear at the Bloemfontein Magistrate court on Monday, 17 January 2022 for 13 counts of rape and attempted murder.
