The SA Weather warned that MORE severe thunderstorms, hail, and lightning are expected on FRIDAY for several parts of South Africa.

MORE severe thunderstorms, hail, and lightning are expected on FRIDAY for several parts of South Africa

MORE SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS, HAIL, AND LIGHTNING EXPECTED

According to the SA Weather Service (SAWS), most of South Africa will experience severe thunderstorms, hail, and excessive lightning.

“Localised flooding of susceptible roads, low-lying areas and bridges. Localised damage to infrastructure, settlements (informal), property, vehicles, livelihood, and livestock.”

It furthermore warned that damage to infrastructure, settlements, property, vehicles, livelihood, and livestock could be expected due to the combination of heavy downpours, excessive lightning, damaging winds, and hail. 

“Further, heavy downpours are expected to result in localised flooding of susceptible roads, low-lying areas, and bridges and possibly cause dangerous driving conditions. Disruptions to municipal services and livelihoods are also possible. Excessive lightning may cause danger to life.”

  • Nketoana / Reitz
  • Dihlabeng / Bohlokong
  • Phumelela / Warden
  • Breede Valley / Worcester
  • Karoo Hoogland / Sutherland
  • Ubuntu / Victoria West
  • Umsobomvu / Noupoort

The SAWS advised the public to stay indoors, if possible, and also away from metal objects.
