Build One South Africa leader Mmusi Maimane has reacted with heavy criticism following the cabinet reshuffle by President Ramaphosa on 6 March.
“After two delays and a late arrival tonight’s cabinet reshuffle announcement by President Cyril Ramaphosa was a hugely disappointing affair, proving to citizens just how out of touch this ANC government is with the needs and concerns of citizens,” Maimane reflected.
“The most significant line in his announcement speech was stating that it’s not an overhaul of the executive, but only to fill vacancies. The same rotten apples were shuffled from one post to another – the polar opposite of what was needed in a time of socio-economic crisis,” he added.

Mmusi Maimane went on to say as South Africans worry about the economy, crime, education, health care and keeping the lights on, the President saw it fit to simply rearrange the employment condition of old, out-of-touch ANC deployees in cabinet, giving many people new roles to repeat old failures.
“What’s worse is that Ramaphosa further bloated the cabinet by adding two more ministers which South Africans will pay for. The blue lights, the security and the houses including generators so that they do not experience load shedding,” he explained.
“However, it was those who failed the citizens the most that have been rewarded and kept their jobs,” he further outlined.
Mmusi Maimane’s analysis:
“Ramaphosa chose to place party ahead of the community in what is likely the last cabinet change the ANC will have in government.”

“Voters must now rally in their numbers and remove this entire ANC cabinet in the 2024 elections and replace it with agile, talented and ethical leaders who can take this country forward,” he encouraged.
