Mitchell’s Plein: One person killed, six injured in mass shooting
According to an eyewitness, one of the victims lost their eyes in the gun attack, but there’s no word yet on their condition

At least one person has died, while six others have been injured during a mass shooting in Mitchells Plein in Cape Town, eNCA reports.
The shooting took occurred on Saturday evening during a party in the area. The victim who died was a 24-year-old woman who sadly succumbed to the gunshot wounds on her way to hospital
eNCA spoke to an eyewitness who said they were celebrating a 21st birthday a group of men just started shooting at the crowd in attendance. The man, who himself says managed to dodge two bullets from the gunman, says they then ran for cover into a garage at the home where the party was being hosted.
“Some started running inside the house, inside the garage, where we were. Then the guy started getting closer to us and I tried to close the garage… I realise I’m very lucky to be alive,” the man said.
Mitchell’s Plein shooting: Children among the victims
Another worrying part of the story is the fact that three children between the ages of five and 13 were among the victims of the Mitchell’s Plein shooting. The police’s Andre Trout also confirmed the attack.
“At around 20:20pm occupants of a green Honda Ballade fired randomly at guests attending a birthday party at a residence in Montclair Drive Mandalay and then fled the scene. The eight victims, aged between 5 and 26, were admitted to hospital where the 24-year-old female later succumbed to her injuries.”

The man said he has been left traumatised, particularly because such incidents never happened in their neighbourhood. The state of the other victims isn’t clear yet, but some are believed to be in hospital. The witness also told the broadcaster that one of the victims’ eyes were taken out in the gun attack.
