The Minister of Tourism, Lindiwe Sisulu has thanked the three SA Tourism Board members who resigned from the department yesterday, Friday, 3 February.

SA TOURISM BOARD MEMBERS APPRECIATED FOR THEIR SERVICE

This after the Chairperson of SA Tourism Board, Aubrey Mhlongo appreciated the service of Enver Duminy, Ravi Nadasen and Rosemary Anderson, who resigned from the South African Tourism Board effective immediately.

“As the board, we extend our sincere gratitude to Enver Duminy, Ravi Nadasen and Rosemary Anderson for their invaluable contribution to the South African Tourism Board during their tenure and we wish them well in their future endeavours.”

“We would like to thank these members for their contribution and oversight of the entity during their time while serving on the board,” he added.

LONGEST SERVING MEMBERS GET SPECIAL RECOGNITION

Mhlongo especially recognised Duminy and Nadasen, as they were serving their third term on the South African Tourism Board.

The trio departs as SA Tourism has come under heavy scrutiny over its R1 billion sponsorship deal with English side Tottenham Hotspur.

The deal has been widely criticised and rejected by political parties and civic organisations. Most have found no logic to the deal as the country struggles to keep lights on, unemployment and crime at its record high. Regardless of South African Tourism Chief Acting Executive Officer, Themba Khumalo’s justification of the deal, South Africans remain unhappy about it.

MINISTER SISULU TO REPLACEMENT THE MEMBERS

Latest on the R1 Billion Tottenham Hotspur Sponsorship, the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation has called for civil society to reject this deal.

“We are calling on all layers of society to reject the government’s deal involving a R1 Billion Sponsorship of the Tottenham Hotspurs Football Club,” the foundation said.
