Minister Cele calls for slain officers’ children to be taken care of

Minister Cele says the slain officers’ children should be to be taken care of and their education paid for by the SAPS

Minister of Police General Bheki Cele has called for the children of the slain Boksburg officers to be taken care of.

MINISTER CELE PAYS TRIBUTE TO THE FALLEN OFFICERS

He uttered these sentiments during the delivery of his main tribute as he paid homage to the two slain Boksburg police officers today, Wednesday, 19 October.

Cele said the slain Boksburg officers who both boasted clean working records should be celebrated for their service to the nation.

GENERAL REFLECTS ON THE BRUTAL MURDER


He told mourners gathered at the Freeway Bible Church that the pair were servicing the community and doing work outside the scope of their normal duties when they were ambushed by ruthless criminals. Minister Cele added that the members simply ‘didn’t see it coming.’
He has called for the officers’ children to be taken care of and their education paid for by the SAPS. He also said the ruthlessness in which criminals are attacking officers, must be met with fire.

Minister Cele ended his tribute by calling on communities to continue to extract criminals living in their midst, saying criminals live among communities and their deeds are known by communities.

WHO ARE THE TWO SLAIN POLICE OFFICERS

Twenty-nine(29)-year-old Constable Khotso Malahlela and 45-year-old Sergeant Vusimuzi Batsha both attached to the Boksburg North Police Station, were responding to a complaint of an unnatural death in the area when they were accosted by three males. At the time of the attack, the pair were waiting for a mortuary van to arrive on the scene, when they were disarmed and fatally wounded.

According to SAPS, the two officers will be buried separately over the weekend.
