Middelburg: Papers fly as police van used to illegally dump rubbish [video]

Whoever gave this order needs dumping themselves. A police van in Middelburg, Limpopo was used to illegally tip some rubbish – including a raft of papers.

What do the police usually have in the back of their vans? Highly-trained dogs, or perhaps some unruly perps ready to face the full might of the law? Well, what about the contents of every other bin in Middelburg?

Middelburg police van used for illegal dumping

The dodgy-dumpers have been caught using a police vehicle to get rid of their rubbish, illegally tipping onto a piece of rural land that has been turned into a makeshift dump. The trash has piled up, and it seems the cops are more than happy to get someone else to do their dirty work for them.

Two men can be seen scattering and sweeping rubbish out of the back of the cop van. It is worth noting that no police officers are actually seen in the footage. Mountains of garbage can be seen lining the banks of the Klein Olifants River in Limpopo, as the unidentified man continues to drag the contents out of the motor.

How did this happen?

It was later seen that the police van’s registration was BTC 540 B, and the police are most certainly contributing to an already-dangerous issue. The sewer line has been clogged by trash, causing a clogging of waste and damage to the infrastructure in place.

According to the Middelburg Observer, Mr Johann Dyason – a Ward Councillor for the DA in Limpopo – has reported the incident to the Director of Solid Waste. He is currently involved in an active struggle to curb the illegal dumping problem, and condemned the actions of those who are meant to enforce the law.

Social media reacts to Limpopo dumping fiasco

Of all the debris that fell out of the back, most of it was papers and files. That’s not a good look for a SAPS vehicle. This was the moment social media users reached boiling point with the situation:

Watch the Middelburg police van dump its rubbish here

As we await further comment from local SAPS representatives, it has been suggested that the car used in the dumping may have been in for repairs, and the workmen are responsible for the dumping rather than anyone in law enforcement. However, regardless of the situation, a degree of responsibility stays with the police here.
