“Paramedics responded to an industrial incident in Westmead, West of Durban.”

Herbst said reports indicate that an adult male had been pulled into an industrial metal cutting machine.

“A complete shutdown and lockout procedure was initiated to allow paramedics to treat the patient while a rescue technician used hydraulic tools to free the heavily entrapped man.”

He added that once the man was freed from the machinery, he was stabilised on the scene.

“The patient was then transported to hospital under the care of an advanced life support practitioner.”
