Former Wits SRC President and #FeesMustFall leader Mcebo Dlamini has hailed the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) for holding a successful National Shutdown on Monday, 20 March.

EFF BROUGHT THE COUNTRY TO ITS KNEES

The country was brought to its knees by the EFF yesterday after it restricted movement when it held a national shutdown which was supported by other organisations and frustrated South Africans.

Reflecting on the shutdown, Dlamini began by saying, “I hold no brief for EFF.
Let us not kid ourselves. Let us be objective. The EFF-led Shutdown Campaign was a success”.

“Protests are about putting your point across to a wide audience.”

“I doubt the EFF ever wanted to physically shutdown South Africa. They ran a brilliant campaign. This was a great activation. We mustn’t be in denial,” he reflected.

MCEBO DLAMINI ANALYSES THE NATIONAL SHUTDOWN

He said the EFF successfully captured the mind of all South Africans on Monday.

“Nobody was not talking about the shutdown for the entire day.
The EFF has done what has been long overdue. Our collective consciousness has been awakened by the very action. What I liked the most is that they destroyed the shallow propaganda narrative of government. Above all government has exposed itself that it is possible to deploy the police and the army to arrest rampant crime,” Dlamini analysed.

“We should also commend other formations/ parties for making it the South African national matter.
International media especially Al Jazeera carried the shutdown in its news. So EFF managed to expose the South African crisis internationally. Indeed they have awoken a sleeping giant,’ he added.
