Chaotic scenes unfolded at Maponya Mall in Soweto as taxi drivers allegedly targeted e-hailing vehicles, setting them ablaze.

Chaos broke loose at Maponya Mall in Soweto on Thursday night, 1 June. Social media was awash with images and videos of vehicles on fire in the parking lot. According to reports, taxi drivers were behind the unrest.

eNCA reported that taxi drivers allegedly attacked Uber and Bolt drivers at Maponya Mall on Thursday night.

At least three vehicles were burnt, and there were reports of injuries to the e-hailing drivers. Pictures and videos show the crowd attacking the vehicles with various objects.
