As South Africa celebrates the 100th anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s birth on 18 July, many events – not only in the country – but across the world will take place in commemoration of the day.

Throughout the years, the great struggle stalwart’s birthday has been marked as a day when the general public is only required to give just 67 minutes of their time to giving to those less fortunate.

With giving being the general theme of the day, the Starfish Foundation has also come on board, calling on you to offer some of your time, thus making a difference in people’s lives.

Starfish Foundation’s Braai of Hope

Starfish Foundation is encouraging people to embrace the values Nelson Mandela stood for by donating 67 minutes of their time to make a positive impact.

You can do this by hosting your own Dinner of Hope, where you can rope your friends in to contribute by donating towards the meal.

For more information on how you too can get involved, visit Starfish Foundation’s website.

Charity Day Fun Run

For this one, you do not even have to be the model athlete, as all you will have to do is plan a distance you’re most comfortable with.

The fundraiser will be held in London’s Hyde Park, a location the organiser feel makes the perfect backdrop for their acknowledgement of Madiba’s service over the years.
