Man stabbed to death with a broken beer bottle during argument with friend

A man was stabbed to death with a broken beer bottle when he and his friend fought in Ezakheni in the early hours of Saturday.

Paramedics found a man who had been stabbed to death with a broken beer bottle next to the road in Ezakheni, Hazelmere, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

MAN WAS FOUND DEAD NEXT TO THE ROAD IN HAZELMERE

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Prem Balram said they received a call for medical assistance for a critically injured male stabbed with a broken beer bottle at around 02:10 on Saturday morning.

“Paramedics were dispatched to the scene and, on arrival, found the Verulam SAPS in attendance.

“Paramedics examined the victim, who was found next to the road. He had sustained a single stab wound to his neck. He showed no signs of life and was declared deceased.”

According to Balram, witnesses on the scene said the deceased and the suspect were consuming alcohol together when they began to argue.

“The suspect then broke a beer bottle and stabbed the victim with the jagged glass before fleeing the scene.”

He furthermore said the suspect was later arrested by police.

Meanwhile in the Western Cape an 8-year-old boy was stabbed and brutally murdered allegedly by his mother’s boyfriend when the couple fought on Thursday evening.

THE LITTLE BOY WAS DECLARED DEAD IN HIS OWN HOME

According to Captain Malcolm Pojie, the little boy had already succumbed to multiple injuries, including stab wounds to his body, when police arrived on the scene.

He said police found what they believe is the murder weapon, a knife, inside the residence. The knife was handed in as evidence.

It is believed the mother of the 8-year-old boy and her boyfriend fought on Thursday evening.

Pojie said the couple turned up at the Thembalethu SAPS Community Service Centre on Thursday, at about 18:30, with the disturbing allegations that the 23-year-old boyfriend had killed the 8-year-old boy.
