A 56-year-old man was killed in a freak accident when he was crushed by his vehicle on Inca Drive in Everest Heights on Monday evening.

THE FREAK ACCIDENT HAPPENED ON MONDAY EVENING 

According to Reaction Unit SA (RUSA) Prem Balram, the freak accident happened at approximately 19:59 in Everest Heights. 

“At approximately 19:59, the RUSA Verulam Operations Center received multiple calls from residents in the area requesting assistance for the driver.

“Reaction Officers and RUSA paramedics were immediately dispatched to the location provided,” Balram said. 

THE MAN WAS FOUND TRAPPED UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE 

 On arrival, a white Ford Sierra was located on a driveway, lying on its side with the driver trapped underneath. 

Balram said the man suffered life-threatening injuries and succumbed to his injuries on scene. 

HE WAS DECLARED DEAD ON THE SCENE 

“It was alleged that the deceased was in the process of parking his vehicle when it overturned on the driver’s side.

“The Ethekwini Fire & Rescue Services utilized the Jaws Of Life and airbags to extricate the deceased from under the wreckage,” he said. 

Meanwhile, on Monday, a man’s body was discovered in his bedroom in KwaZulu-Natal.

Balram said the man was found hanging from a rafter at his residence in Amoutana near Trenance Park.

IN ANOTHER TRAGIC INCIDENT, A MAN COMMITTED SUICIDE 

“His family contacted RUSA at approximately 13:04 after they made the discovery. 

“On arrival, RUSA paramedics examined the 25-year-old; however, he showed no signs of life.” 

Circumstances surrounding the suicide were not established.
