Then Bheki Mlangeni Hospital in Soweto refused to admit a 64 year-old man in critical condition, for not having the R20 needed to receive treatment.

Man dies after hospital refuse

Bheki Mazibuko was forced to wait outside the hospital for hours, while his son frantically ran around trying to borrow R20 from anyone willing to help his dad. EWN reports that Bheki’s son managed R15, but hospital staff refused the elderly man medical care for another 30 minuntes.

Bongani Mazubuko, Bheki’s son, says he had to take his dad to the hospital as he was complaining about chest pains, but they did not have the R20 needed to be admitted. When Mhlangeni hospital staff finally decided to offer treatment it was too late and Mazibuko died in his wheelchair.

The Gauteng health department has condemned the incident and “is mounting a full investigation to determine what happened.”

Folks, you now we’re in trouble when a man dies over R20.
