A man, believed to be in his 30s, was killed on Friday morning when he fell from a tree at a construction site in Rivonia.
ER24 Emergency Services spokesman Russel Meiring said paramedics arrived at 09h39 to find a man lying on the ground next to a tree.
“On quick assessment, medics found that the man had sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life.”
Meiring said; unfortunately, nothing could be done for the man, and he was declared dead.
“The incident was reported to the local authorities.”
Earlier on Friday two pedestrians died after being hit and dragged by a car in Roodepoort.
Meiring said paramedics arrived on the scene on Hole-in-one avenue in Ruimsigat 07h29 on Friday morning.
“Paramedics found three people lying on the side of the road while two light motor vehicles were parked a short distance away.”
He said it is understood that a light motor vehicle had struck the three pedestrians walking on the sidewalk.
A second vehicle then hit one of the injured, dragging them for several metres.
“Medics assessed the patients and found that two women had sustained numerous fatal injuries. Nothing could be done for them, and they were declared dead by another service.
” A third male pedestrian had sustained critical injuries, while the female driver of one light motor vehicle was found with moderate injuries.”
Meiring said the patients were treated, and the critically injured were provided with advanced life support.
“After treatment, the critically injured was airlifted by a private medical helicopter while the female patient was transported by ambulance.”
He added that local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
