Man arrested for sexual assault and house break-in

A man was arrested for sexual assault after he was suspected of climbing through a woman’s bedroom window and fondled her while she was asleep

Reaction Officers in Buffelsdraai, KwaZulu-Natal arrested a man sought for sexual assault and house break-in on Sunday morning, 5 March.

Victim calls for help after sexual assault

The victim contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) at approximately 05:43 and explained that on Friday, her 38-year-old neighbor had managed to open her bedroom window and climb into the house while she was asleep.

When she woke up, he began fondling her, and she started screaming for assistance.

Her screams awakened her children, who also shouted for assistance.

The suspect then fled through the open window.

Victim knew the man

The victim was familiar with the man and reported the incident to the SAPS FCS (Family Violence, Child Protection & Sexual Offences) Unit, which registered a criminal case.

The Investigating Officer provided her with a Pointing Out Note.

After the suspect returned to his residence, the victim sought help by contacting RUSA on Sunday morning.

Reaction Officers proceeded to the location and surrounded the house.

They found the suspect in bed with his wife and placed him under arrest.

He was detained at the Verulam SAPS.
