Watch: Malusi Gigaba goes into full “Cyril Mode” during CNN interview [video]

Minister of Finance Malusi Gigaba was interviewed live on CNN last night. If you wanted a display of irony then maybe Malusi deserves an award for this one?

Gigaba CNN

Malusi Gigaba is the Minister of Finance, has many connections to the Gupta family but is also known as a fierce Jacob Zuma loyalist. Well, he WAS a Zuma loyalist, when Zuma had the power that is…

Since the ANC elected Cyril Ramaphosa to be its new president in December, Gigaba and many other politicians have been quickly shifting camps to support their new leader.

Why would they do this, you ask? Well, political “survival” is everything.

On Tuesday afternoon, the ANC officially announced that it had recalled President Jacob Zuma. With the party saying it expects a response from Zuma on Wednesday, Gigaba hopped on CNN on Tuesday night for an interview.

Malusi Gigaba is known for being (pardon the pun) a rather “smooth criminal”. Like President Zuma, he is a man that can charm you into liking him. The more you “like” him, the more your brain keeps pushing his links to Gupta dealings and involvement at SOEs to the back of your head.

Malusi Gigaba and a strong case of “Cyrilitis”

“Cyrilitis” is the phrase that has been used to describe the sudden jumping to the “clean” political ship that we mentioned earlier. During his interview on CNN last night, Gigaba did exactly that, masterfully we might add…

From expressing his “excitement” for the State Capture Inquiry to begin to labelling corruption in SA a “reality not a perception”. Gigaba did it all, at one point even calling on Zuma (the man who made him Finance Minister) to “do the right thing” and resign.

You can see the full interview below. Keep an eye on how he calmly bats away questions on his own allegations.
