Malema to swap red beret for graduate cap

All of those who so love to ridicule Julius Malema for his poor performance in woodwork and maths might have to take all those jibes back.

The firebrand leader of the Economic Freedom Party (EFF) is set to graduate with with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Communications and African Studies from the University of South Africa on Wednesday.

Malema will be formally awarded the degree during the university’s 2016 graduation ceremony on Wednesday evening.

Spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi said in a statement that Malema “continues to make us proud and his graduation confirms the reality that education is central to the struggle for economic freedom”.

“The completion of this BA qualification amidst all other demands on him as a leader places him amongst the struggle heroes and heroines who never compromised to lead our people in the liberation struggle without academic qualifications.”
