Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema has once again voiced opinions on COVID-19 that some may find controversial.

Speaking during an EFF event on Wednesday, Malema expressed his view that no one in South Africa should be forced to take the COVID-19 vaccine against their will. Malema made it clear that the EFF firmly opposes mandatory vaccination regulations.

Malema says COVID-19 vaccines should be encouraged, not compulsory

This news comes at a time when many businesses and even higher learning institutions have compelled citizens to take the vaccine.

Commenting on this during a visit to the Phansi family in Gauteng on Wednesday, where Malema handed over a new house, the EFF head explained that while mandatory vaccinations shouldn’t be allowed people should still be encouraged to take it of their own free will.

“All we can do is to encourage them to do the right thing and the right thing is to vaccinate. Let’s not win people over through bullying; we need to persuade the people, that’s what democracy is about. Let’s convince people to vaccinate,”

EFF leader condemns case against Zandile Mafe

Interestingly, Malema has voiced his opinions on the controversial Parliament fire and the man accused of starting the blaze that gutted National Assembly buildings.

The EFF boss condemned the arrest of Zandile Mafe, adamant that he is being used as a scapegoat.

Malema is adamant that Mafe is taking the fall for the government’s own negligence, which he insists is the main cause of the fire that has resulted in immense damage to the uninsured buildings.

“Do you think in your rightful mind, a person would burn parliament and then goes and sleep next to where you have committed a crime… there’s no such thing. So I think more than anything guys, it’s negligence. They’ve not maintained parliament, you may find out the rats have eaten the cables, that why it started burning from the roof and there was a spark and that spark caused the fire.”
