The Waterstone store was a three month renovation project for the supermarket chain, installing new features and new look for the group’s ‘premium’ branding.

Pick n Pay ‘premium’ format

This follows the move earlier this year to split the Pick n Pay store portfolio into two brands: the Pick n Pay QualiSave was launched in August, catering to the country’s middle market, while the ‘premium’ format focuses on more affluent customers.

The new ‘premium’ Pick n Pay stores boast a new coffee bar, fresh fruit and vegetables, creative and curated product displays and wider aisles.

According to Pick n Pay, most of the signage in the store has been converted to digital screens while new equipment in the store is also aimed at reducing energy consumption by around 30%, such as energy-efficient refrigeration plants and lighting.
