This scene from Lonehill, Joburg wouldn’t be out of place on a Benny Hill sketch. But two robbers who thought they’d picked-out an easy target were left humiliated when they had to run for their lives.
Two dudes in Lonehill fight off attempted robbery
The incredible video has been shared thousands of times on social media, as the would-be victims turn the tables on their potential assailants. The clip begins by showing us two men talking outside of a property, but events soon go from casual to chaotic in a heartbeat.
A man in an orange shirt leaps from the passenger side of a white vehicles and approaches his target. He withdraws a gun and points it at the pair. But do you know what? Two can play at that game…
How it all unfolded
One of the men stood on the driveway takes evasive action by retreating backwards and withdrawing his own firearm. The situation is flipped on its head, and the hunter becomes the hunted as shots are fired towards the supposed thief and his getaway vehicle.
In almost cartoon-like fashion, the criminal panics and runs away in sheer terror, scrambling towards safety in Lonehill. It would appear no-one is seriously injured in the clash, but we’re sure doctors would find a bruised ego and severely-battered pride somewhere upon the orange-shirted scarperer.
Strong self-defence on show
The incident took place at 16:00 on Sunday afternoon. Police have started an investigation into the matter. This was arguably the best-possible outcome, too. Had the robber been shot dead, the man on the driveway may have faced his own police probe – as per the laws of self-defence in South Africa.
However, with no fatalities and an appropriate display of force shown, the targets escaped a life-threatening situation by giving these thugs a taste of their own medicine. You can watch the video of the incident below – blink, and you’ll miss the moment rough justice was served.
