Don’t even think about moving from the sofa over the next few days. We’ve got your guide to this weekend’s live sport and there is so much to get involved with. We’ll give you the same advice we hand out every week: Get your snacks and clear your schedule.
There’s Pro14 action to kick the weekend off, as Edinburgh entertain Cheetahs in Scotland. You can catch it all live on SuperSport 1, from 20:30. As ever, Friday night is the calm before the storm.
We’ve got double delight in store for us, as viewers can choose between EPL or PSL matches on Friday. It’s Brighton vs West Ham (SS3) in the 21:00 kick off, and Maritzburg United host Cape Town City at 20:00 (SS4).
SuperSport 2 is is hosting the Abu Dhabi T20 coverage, starting from 13:00. If you’ve got a bit of time to kill, why not stick the big hitters on and enjoy Hurricanes vs Qalander & Titans vs Defenders.
You know what’s happening. We know what’s happening. The country will unite behind the Boks once more, after two stunning results in the Rugby Championship. SA host New Zealand in a 17:00 kick-off, with build-up beginning at 16:00. Don’t miss this.
You might want to take in as much EPL action as you can this weekend, ahead of the impending national break. Everton vs Leicester (SS6) is your best bet for entertainment in the 16:00 kickoffs, whereas Manchester United vs Newcastle United is the evening match (SS3), live from 18:30.
However, you might want to keep things distinctly Mzansi-flavoured. Free State Stars take on Bloemfontein Celtic in the PSL, and the Free State derby promises to be a tasty one. It’s live from 15:00 on SuperSport 4. Later on, it’s Kaizer Chiefs vs Polokwane City at 18:00 on the same channel.
Will we see more heroics from Tahir? Or another batting masterclass from… *checks notes*… Dale Steyn? Let’s hope so. South Africa take on Zimbabwe in the third ODI, starting at 13:30.
Early riser? You can catch qualifying for the F1 Japanese GP from 7:55 on SuperSport 1. The heat is on to stop Lewis Hamilton’s march to glory, and the chasing pack will have to find another gear.
If you’re on the sauce or simply staying up, 00:30 is when Argentina vs Australia gets underway. The Wallabies are looking for revenge after the Pumas turned them over on home soil two weeks ago. That’s live on SS1.
People take the piss out of the Europa League, but if not for their zany Thursday schedule, we wouldn’t get triple-headers of EPL action like this. So thanks, UEFA. Soccer fans are advised to tune in to SuperSport 3 from 12:50, then remove the batteries from their remote: Fulham vs Arsenal, Southampton vs Chelsea and Liverpool vs Manchester City all play back-to-back games. Bliss.
Meanwhile, there’s a cracker in the PSL too. Table-topping Bidvest Wits take on Mamelodi Sundowns on SuperSport 4, from 15:30 – maybe don’t throw those batteries away, after all.
Australia begin their tour of Pakistan at a ridiculously early hour of Sunday that you’re welcome to try out on our behalf. Coverage gets underway at 5:45, on SuperSport 2.
This is where we end our live sport round-up. What’s better than a GP? Two GP’s, we’d say. We’ve got the F1 race from Japan getting underway at 7:55 (SuperSport1), before the Moto GP in Thailand begins at 8:55 on SuperSport 6.
