ANC Youth League president Collen Maine has rubbished claims that one of the Guptas’ main men groomed him on how to deal with the media.

These darn emails must be giving the Guptas and their buddies one hell of a headache. Actually, it’s being reported that the family’s lawyers have advised them to take legal action against all the media outlets who published the ‘ leaked’ emails, so the last statement is pretty much a given.

Anyway, some of the emails reportedly implicate none other than the ANC Youth League’s Collen Maine… the documents allege that Maine had been given lessons on how to deal with the media – should have had a few more lessons – by former CEO of the Guptas’ Oakbay Investments, Nazeem Howa.

True to form, Maine slammed the allegations, making it clear that he never received any notes on how to handle the media from Howa.

Speaking to EWN’s Stephen Grootes on The Midday Report, Maine makes it clear that he has no “formal relationship” with the Gupta family.

“I don’t have a formal relationship with the Gupta family. I don’t have a relationship with the Gupta family,” he tells Grootes.

While Maine’s sure there’s been no foul play from his side, the Youth League president was uncharacteristically reserved when asked about the claims about his boss and buddy, Jacob Zuma.

“President Zuma will have to respond for himself,” Maine, who traditionally rallies to Zuma’s defence at every opportunity, said.
