Two armed men in Rosario Argentina have reportedly opened fire at the supermarket owned by the family of Lionel Messi’s wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, in the early hours of Thursday morning on 02 March 2023.

There were no injuries or fatalities that were reported due to the supermarket being closed, however, the two gunmen left a handwritten note for the 35-year-old seven-time world player of the year which reads:

“Messi, we are waiting for you. Javkin is a narco; he won’t take care of you.”

Pablo said that the attack was an attempt to “create chaos in the city.” News24 reported that Ivan Gonzalez, provincial police assistant chief, told Cadena 3 television station that the message was “not a threat” but rather an attempt to “attract attention.”

An eye witness told the authorities that the two gunmen arrived on a motorbike at around 3:00 a.m., shot at the store, dropped the note, and fled the scene.

Surveillance cameras are reportedly under scrutiny by the authorities to establish the suspects behind the crime scene.

Javkin has slammed security forces who have not done enough to deal with the long-standing violence and gangs linked to drug trafficking in Rosario.

Speaking to CNN Radio Argentina, a representative from Messi’s family, Celia Cuccittini expressed a message of “calm” following the gun attack incident, saying that they’ve never requested “private” security as they live normal lives.

Rosario is a city in Argentina’s Santa Fe province, which has greatly experienced an increase in violence and drug trafficking perpetuated by gangs in the city. 288 murders have been recorded in 2022 and over 50 murder cases since the start of 2023.
