The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) said the case against the 40-year-old policewoman accused of raping and sexually grooming her son has been postponed.

LIMPOPO POLICEWOMAN DUE IN COURT ON 6 FEBRUARY

The 40-year-old Sergeant, who is attached to the Groblersdal Police Station, is charged with raping a minor, sexual grooming of a child and creating and distributing child pornography.

She was expected to apply for bail in the Siyabuswa Magistrate’s Court on Monday. However, the case has been postponed to Monday, 6 February.

“The female officer was seen in a video engaging in a sexual act with her son.  IPID will oppose the bail application, which will be heard in court on Monday,” said IPID spokesperson Lizzy Suping.

Suping told The South African the accused is being detained at Dennilton Police Station in Limpopo.

As previously reported, the policewoman was arrested after a video of her raping her son went viral on social media.

The Minister of Police, Bheki Cele, condemned her actions and said it is “beyond comprehension.” The victim has been removed to a place of safety and is receiving counselling.

“When you are told that a member of the SAPS has been arrested, it is one of the most painful things.

“But to do this one is even beyond comprehension. This is not just a member of the SAPS. It’s the real mother of the boy… she is arrested, and to us, she is no more an honourable member; she is a criminal,” said Cele.

The video reportedly dates back to 2020.
