Bail hearing of police officer accused of raping her son postponed
The police officer accused of raping her son and whose video was widely circulated on social media is still behind bars.

The bail hearing of the Limpopo female police officer accused of raping her son has been postponed to Thursday, 9 February 2023.
The accused Constable appeared at the Siyabuswa Magistrate Court on Thursday, 2 February.
POLICE OFFICER WHO ALLEGEDLY RAPED SON BEHIND BARS
The 40-year-old Sergeant, who is attached to the Groblersdal Police Station, is charged with raping a minor, sexual grooming of a child and creating and distributing child pornography.
Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) spokesperson Lizzy Supping said the postponement will allow the officer an opportunity to further consult with her legal representative.
“She is still detained at the Dennilton holding cells,” Supping said.
As previously reported, the police officer was arrested after a video of her raping her son went viral on social media.
The Minister of Police, Bheki Cele, condemned her actions and said it is “beyond comprehension.” The victim has been removed to a place of safety and is receiving counselling.
“When you are told that a member of the SAPS has been arrested, it is one of the most painful things. But to do this one is even beyond comprehension. This is not just a member of the SAPS. It’s the real mother of the boy… she is arrested, and to us, she is no more an honourable member; she is a criminal,” Cele said.
The video reportedly dates back to 2020.
