Limpopo Police launch manhunt after RISE in cash-in-transit heists

Police in Limpopo Lieutenant have ordered an intensive manhunt for the suspects responsible for aggravated cash-in-transit heists.

Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has ordered an intensive manhunt for the suspects responsible for aggravated cash-in-transit heists committed throughout the province.

LATEST CASH-IN-TRANSIT HEIST SHAKES UP THE LAW ENFORCMENT

According to Limpopo Lieutenant General Hadebe, the recent incident took place at Tshakhuma in the Vhembe district this morning, Thursday, 1 June 2023 at about 08:00.

“The preliminary police investigation revealed that the cash-in-transit (CIT) vehicle was heading towards Thohoyandou and driving along the R524 road when one suspect travelling in a white Toyota Camry coming from the opposite direction collided with the cash van,” Limpopo Lieutenant General Hadebe described the incident.

It is unknown how the impact of the collision affected the guards in transit. Nevertheless, the Limpopo Provincial Commissioner has further ordered the establishment of a Task Team to track down and apprehend those behind these heists currently prevalent in the province.

“Anyone with information that can assist in the apprehension of the suspects should urgently contact Captain George Mutavhatsindi on 071 351 7275 or Lieutenant Colonel Richard Boshomane on 079 894 5501 or Warrant Officer Phaladi Makola on 0827492233 or the Crime Stop number 0860010111,” she appealed.

TRACKING TEAM LOCATES ROBBERS IN KZN’S CAPITAL

Meanwhile, five jewellery store robbers who held up a shop at Savannah Mall in Polokwane, Limpopo, were arrested in KwaZulu-Natal last month.

Limpopo Provincial Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba recently confirmed that members of SAPS Limpopo Tracking Team, Limpopo Murder and Robbery, Pietermaritzburg Highway Patrol, Magma Investigations, and Security and Willie K9 Security arrested five suspects aged between 25 and 35 for a business robbery incident that occurred in a jewellery store in Polokwane, Savannah Mall, on Friday 12 May 2023 at around 09h00.
