With fewer restrictions and banned activities for Level 1, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma’s NCCC briefing contained much less drama than we’ve seen previously. Her address to the media and subsequent Q&A session took less than an hour to complete, and in all honesty, there wasn’t much more to add from President Ramaphosa’s speech on Wednesday.
NDZ did clarify a few issues regarding alcohol sales and the retention of a nighttime curfew. But further elaboration on international travel and social gatherings was in short supply. Nonetheless, our COGTA Minister did make herself heard loud and clear when it came to stressing what activities remain firmly off-limits during Level 1.
In total, there are 15 major activities that are still ‘banned’ at this stage of lockdown. Allow us to explain…
The following rules will be applicable from 00:01 on Monday 21 September
The move to alert #Level1 will take effect from midnight on Sunday. Gatherings will be permitted. The number of people does not exceed 50% of the normal capacity of a venue, up to a maximum of 250 people for indoor gatherings and 500 for outdoor gatherings. @DlaminiZuma pic.twitter.com/NJhHIlyOG4
