The Western Cape High Court’s Elize Steyn sentenced Swartz to 22 years on Wednesday for murdering Adams to sell his body parts to a sangoma.

His sentence, however, was backdated to his arrest back in October 2013, reducing the time he’ll actually spend in prison.

News24 reports that, following his sentencing, Swartz shot an emotionless glimpse at the public gallery. Judge Steyn ruled that it’s clear to her Swartz is an attention-seeker and trained liar, dismissing his claims that he was possessed by a demon.

She added that Satanism is not a deciding factor in such rulings, saying that there was little evidence Swartz regretted his actions.

15 Year-old Adams’ body was discovered in an abandoned school, while his head was found in Swatz’s backyard.
