Health Minister Zweli Mkhize announced that COVID-19 cases in South Africa increased by a whopping 1 455 on Tuesday 2 June.

Health Minister Zweli Mkhize, on Tuesday 2 June, announced that the confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Africa have risen to 35 812. Mkhize announced the numbers while in the Western Cape to assess the readiness of intervention teams in hotspots.
The total number of cases is an increase of 1 455, as the total number of confirmed cases stood at 34 357 on Monday 1 June. The death toll has increased by 50 as of Tuesday. This brings national deaths to a total of 755.
A total of 761 534 tests have been conducted to date with 18 792 tests done in the last 24 hours. There have been a total of 18 313 recoveries.
